| During 2005 Wearpurple ran a pilot project of artists in residence
within Age Concern Cheshire day care centres. This project involved
three artists a Poet, Dancer and Visual Artist working in a
centre with clients and staff for one half day session a month
over a ten month period. |

Following positive feedback
from the pilot project Wearpurple co-ordinated four
further residencies during 2006/2007.
The project covered a range of media including dance,
poetry, visual arts and music. A team consisting of
the lead artist and a shadowing artist (where appropriate)
worked within a day centre with both clients and staff.
A relationship between the artists, participants and staff
was established which helped to embed the arts/project
within the centre. |

One of the aims of this project is to
empower staff and participants, so that they are able
to continue developing artwork independently. Within
each artist-led session the artists introduce the groups
to new ideas and techniques and leave a ‘home
work’ sheet and materials for the group to try
and experiment with between sessions. It is these ‘homework’
sheets that have formed the basis for the Wearpurple
‘toolkit’ folder which is currently being
evaluated by day care groups and staff. |
